How do I create a Fronter room for an event?

With so many great sporting events taking place in 2014, why not create a room, or series of rooms, to help learners get involved in some way.

Here are just some of the events you could try creating rooms for:

– Sochi Winter Olympics (7 – 23rd Feb)
– Sochi Winter Paralympics (7 – 16 Mar)
– World Cup (12 Jun – 13 Jul)
– Commonwealth Games, Glasgow (23 Jul – 3 Aug)

We have a library of free ‘Ready-to-Go’ rooms that have been created for previous events such as Summer Games, which may give you some ideas on things you can include. We ran a competition for schools and learners to create their own rooms around this subject, you can view this on our website.

If you need help in creating your own room, we have a ‘Basic Room Management’ webinar or for those users who have mastered the basics we are also running an ‘Advanced Room Management’ webinar.

I’d like to learn more about rooms in Fronter

Think of your school – it’s in a building, with rooms for classes, shelves for resources i.e. books and pupil registers for your learners. Fronter is structured in much the same way, but online.

Fronter is your virtual school building. You create ‘rooms’ for teaching subjects, general school information to be shared with colleagues and much more. To those rooms you add the learners for each specific subject such as ‘School Information’.

To help you get started we have created a bank of ‘Ready-to-Go’ rooms which are loaded with quizzes, forums, videos, games and much more.

If you would like to know more about how to create your own rooms join our ‘Basic Room Management’ webinar.

What are Ready-to-Go rooms?

‘Ready-to-Go’ rooms are rooms that we have created, filled with content such as fun quizzes, videos, reading texts and links to other useful resources – helping to save you the time and effort of creating something from scratch.

You can download the rooms from www.fronter.co.uk and import them into Fronter following the instructions on screen. The room is then available to use straight away, the only thing you’ll need to do is add your pupils. Each room can be edited and customised so you can make as many changes as you like and add to the resources should you wish.

The list of ‘Ready-to-Go’ rooms is growing so don’t forget to keep checking back for new additions. We’ll also update you via our weekly email, if you would like to sign up to receive this register here.

If you would like to know how to create your own ‘room’, we have a ‘Basic Room Management’ webinar.

RE Rooms

How can I get my class to engage more with history?

Getting learners to understand that they are experiencing history in the making throughout their lives can be made easier by using Fronter.

Creating rooms for topics such as the Diamond Jubilee and filling them with videos, pictures, quizzes and discussion forums can help learners to become more interested.

We have a number of free ‘Ready-to-Go’ rooms which can help start you off, such as:

– Diamond Jubilee
– Summer Games
– World Book Day

If you’re struggling to make your own room, we can help. We have a ‘Basic Room Management’ webinar. Alternatively, why not try our ‘Advanced Room Management‘ webinar for the more confident user.

We add new training dates frequently so don’t forget to keep checking the schedule. If the training you are looking for doesn’t appear in the list, you can register your interest to attend and we’ll get in touch when a new date is available.
